The One-Minute Meditator: Connecting with Inner Wisdom

“Scientists study it. Doctors recommend it. Millions of Americans practice it… every day. Why? Because meditation works”
(Joel Stein - Aug 4 2003 Time Magazine Article)

Meditation has been the subject of serious study in the west for the past 30 years, but has been practiced in both Eastern and Western Wisdom and Mystic traditions for the past 5000 years.

Meditation has been successfully used to:

  • Relieve chronic pain, promote healing and reduce effects of stress
  • Control certain autonomic functions of the body (breath, heart rate, immune system)
  • Enhance concentration, problem solving, decision-making, planning and creativity.
  • Access inner wisdom, connect to your intuition and stimulate mental, emotional and spiritual growth
  • Contribute to the overall quality of life and enliven intimate relationships

Meditation is an altered state of awareness that is emerging, along with waking, dreaming and deep sleep, as a fourth state of consciousness. It is an integrative tool that helps connect and coordinate all four domains of intelligence (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual) and three levels of awareness.

About the program:

This program will teach a simple, universal five-step approach to meditation that is experiential. The four phases of relaxation, concentration, visualization and contemplation are the building blocks that allow participants an experience of the many facets of the meditative state.

Program Outline:

  • Understanding the origins, theory and practice of meditation.
  • Two meditative approaches: Sensory overload and sensory deprivation
  • Experiencing the Four Phases: Relaxation, Concentration, Visualization and Contemplation
  • “The Five Steps in developing a personal meditative practice.
  • Summary and Conclusions
